The REACH Regulation, (EC) No 1907/2006, concerns the Registration, Evaluation, Authorization and Restriction of Chemicals. Its was adopted to improve the protection of human health and the environment from the risks that can be posed by chemicals, while enhancing the competitiveness of the EU chemicals industry.
A number of Industrial Minerals are exempted from REACH registration obligations as they are “naturally occurring substances not chemically modified” (REACH Regulation, Annex V.7 on exemptions on the obligation to register). For other Industrial Minerals which do fall under the scope of the REACH Regulation, IMA-Europe is managing the REACH Consortia and provides specific support to its members for the completion and submission of registration dossiers.
Accordingly, IMA-Europe is managing the REACH Lime Consortia covering the following 6 lime substances:
